I was able to get into Hall H on Saturday at Comic Con and I just wanted to say that the hype was real for Deadpool. Out of all the things that were shown that day, the Deadpool trailer got the biggest reaction.* Everyone got on their feet and started chanting "One more time! One more time!" Tbh, I don't think Fox realized it would get that strong of a reaction. I think they assumed that X-Men: Apocalypse would be the crowd favorite for the Fox panel.

*Keep in mind that this is the day WB showed off Suicide Squad, Batman v Superman, a hype reel with all the upcoming DC movies including the official name for the Green Lantern movie, Legendary showing off Warcraft, and Fox showing off X-Men.

I mean Deadpool only exists as a crowdpleasing, fanservice character, so a bunch of easily impressed nerds gathered into a giant room having a positive reaction to it shouldn't be too surprising. All those other movies are just self-serious, cartoon special effects blockbusters. I'm sure they'll all make zillions of dollars each, but we've seen dozens if not hundreds of movies exact like every single one of them.

OMG, the Man of Steel defense force returns. It baffles me because Ryan argues against these points I never heard of like how many people Superman saved. Here is why the movie is mediocre

The climax is boring. A fight between two super powered people should be exciting, but it ends up being dull. Why? Because the climax of super beings knocking each other into buildings follows a previous fight of three super beings knocking each other into buildings. When the climax came, I was literally rolling my eyes waiting for this glorified light and sound show to end. There are cool parts to the fight, like when Zod has his super saiyan moment, but most of it just felt like a retread of the major fight scene before it.

The storytelling is mechanical. When people complain about there being no joy or humor, I think what they're really trying to say that this movie is told with the heart of an automaton. Okay, maybe it's not supposed to be "joyful", but it's also not dramatic, suspenseful, or any number of adjectives describing human emotion. We get small glimpses of drama with the flashback stuff, but that's it. If we could see inside my head a la "Inside Out" as I watched this movie, you'd see 4 personified feelings yawning.

I could go on, but bottom line is that I was bored bored bored with the movie. I truly felt like Snyder filmed a bunch of special effects and then asked a computer to write a movie around them.

Notice that my reasons for disliking the movie have nothing to do with Superman killing Zod or the film not being colorful enough or Superman not taking the fight somewhere else or Superman not saving enough people. I could care less about any of those things. The primary purpose of me watching a movie is to be entertained and Man of Steel was not entertaining.

I'm actually a little sad there isn't going to be any Krypton in BvS. I thought that shit was some of the coolest alien world CG I've seen in years. I normally couldn't give two shits about alien world CG in most movies. I thought Oa in Green Lantern was kind of bad. Asgard in Thor was fucking terrible. Every location in GotG was lame. But for some reason Krypton was fucking dope as shit.

I disagree with the other parts, but totally agree with Krypton. That was easily one of the best parts of the movie.
