Robocop or Total Recall?

Postby Mr_eX » Sep 10th, 2010 @ 2:48pm

Two of my favorite movies but I never really thought of which one is better before. I want to say Total Recall but I have to go with Robocop as it has one of the best villains ever

RoboCop gets my vote. Clarence Boddicker is one of the most memorable movie villains ever.

This is a no-brainer to me. Robocop as a character is so much cooler than Arnold playing Arnold. I can watch Arnold playing Arnold is about a dozen other films. Don't get me wrong, Total Recall is still a bad-ass film, but Robocop is fucking one of a kind.

The only way you could vote Total Recall is if you either
A.) Have never seen Robocop
B.) Your finger slipped multiple times, you are that clutzy.

Clearly, some people on the Bombcast are either drunk off their asses, or functional retards.

Are they really comparable though? Sure they are both sci-fi movies released within a few years of each other. But one is an ultra violent over the top urban avenger flick that takes place in a dystopian near future environment, the other is a planet jumping Hollywoodization of a Philip K. Dick story that takes place in the imagination of the protagonist. It's like comparing Re-Animator vs. Night of the Demons... or something.

It's about the movie, not the character. In that respect total recall is wayyyyyy better. Robocop is a whiny bitch also.

We must be watching different movies, because all Robocop does take names, kick ass, and deliver one-liners. He doesn't know how to whine because he isn't programmed to do so.

Pretty sure he nearly dies twice in robocop 1. Definitely taking names lol! Owned by a stupidly obvious drive by, oh my bad, that's a different robocop movie/show. It's sometimes hard for me to keep the amount times that goofy cyborg nearly dies and then spends the next hour (movie time) in rehab straight. Lets talk about the terminator instead or maybe Ripley. But I shouldn't even be arguing about characters since this about which movie is better. Robocop has some serious pacing issues and that's just the tip of the iceberg of shittiness, at least most of total recalls blunders can be put into the awesome cheeziness category.

I think there'd still be a fight because apparently a lot of people voting haven't seen total recall or robocop in awhile so i'd assume it would be the same for running man.... Sad, I know.

Moment of silence, I feel, for the passing of great 80s sci-fi.
